Hi today is Whatever Wednesday over on the My Creative Time blog. My son's birthday is today and he collects Pokemon cards. So I decided to create a pikachu birthday card for him using my MCT goodies to modify a cutting file.
I first created the little Pokemon ball by loosely following these wonderful punch art directions from the Chic n' Scratch blog. I had to make mine smaller to fit the card I was creating. I used the More Stitched Circle Dies to cut three same sized circles out in red, white, and black card stock. I cut the red one in half and cut a strip out of the black one. I then used a smaller circle die to cut out another little black circle. I glued the red half onto the white and then the black strip on top of the red half. Next, I glued the small black circle on the black strip. Then I used the small circle die from the Build A Banner Stamp set to add another white card stock circle to the small black circle. This completed the look of the Pokemon ball.
I cut out the little pikachu cutting file and put it all together. I stamped on the little nose, added some white gel pen accents, and topped some of the parts with Glossy Accents. I had to cut away the heart to add the little pokemon ball to the cutting file. Next, I cut out the little birthday hat using the Party Hat Dies. I modified the strips by cutting them down to add both of them towards the top the hat. Then I cut out two little hat toppers in red and white. I glued them together and then added them to the top of the hat. I added a little enamel dot to the center.
I cut out the yellow card stock mat using the Stitched Rectangular Frame Dies. The blue polka dotted pattern paper was cut out using the More Stitched Rectangular Dies. I then added the white card base to the back of the yellow mat. I stamped on the "Happy Birthday" to the bottom of the card using a sentiment from the Greatest Handyman Stamp Set. I used embossing ink and white embossing powder to make it stand out from the blue back ground paper. Then I added the little birthday pikachu to the card.
I finished the card by adding a few little fun confetti die cuts that were cut out using a die from the Make A Wish Stamp Set. I also added a bit of Wink of Stella to the confetti and the party hat to add some sparkle to the card.
